The UGC (User Generated Content) feature allows you to collect Instagram posts where your brand has been mentioned. After the user approval, you can use the content of the posts in your stories.

ℹ️ More information

Content and mentions types

UGC are collected differently depending on content and mention type:

- Posts & Reels when the brand is tagged in the media: JOIN collects posts and reels where the brand is tagged in the media up to 3 months prior to the initial connection to the platform. Then, they will be stored on the tool for an infinite period of time.

- Posts & Reels when the brand is mentioned in the description: JOIN collects posts and reels where the brand is mentioned in the description only from the first login to the platform and stores them indefinitely.

- Stories: JOIN collects stories where the brand is mentioned only from the first login to the platform and stores them for only 3 months (compared to 24 hours on Instagram), with the option to extend this period up to 6 months. Please note that if your account is disconnected, we will not be able to retrieve UGC you previously had access to.

Synchronization

Content synchronization occurs every 5 minutes at most. A button appears to manually refresh the content.

1- Connect JOIN to your facebook account

Connect JOIN to your Facebook account to access Instagram content where you've been mentioned.

2- Search for UGC that interests you and save it

  1. Easily search for content that mentions your brand based on the publication date, content type (Story, Post, Reel), and the content usage request status.

4- Request Permission to Use Content

When you click on the content you're interested in, a window will open, allowing you to request permission to use this content.

Pre-written message templates: you have access to several message templates that you can use or customize as needed. You can also create new ones.

  1. Stories: Permission requests are made via direct message (DM).

Meta allows permission requests via DM for stories because when a brand is mentioned in a story, a private conversation between the content creator and the brand is already established. This conversation exists before the permission request.

Once the message has been customized by the user, a button enables you to send the request via DM from JOIN to the content owner (on behalf of your account name).

The content owner has two response options via DM: Accepted or Rejected.

Based on the content owner's response, JOIN automatically updates the status of the request to Pending, Accepted, or Denied.

  2. Posts & Reels where the brand is mentioned in the description: Permission requests are made via comment or DM.

Unlike stories, Meta does not allow automatic permission requests via DM for posts and reels, as these do not create a private conversation. Therefore, we cannot automatically create a private conversation.

Once the message has been customized by the user, a button allows you to send the request:

    • Either as a comment on the post on IG (on behalf of your Instagram account) automatically (without opening Instagram).

The content owner must then respond in the comments with a specific hashtag like #Yes or #No.

    • Or you can click the "Copy and open Instagram" button, where your message will be automatically copied.

You can then start a private conversation with the content owner and paste the message.

Based on the content owner's response, you need to manually manage the request status by updating it from Pending to Accepted or Denied.

5- Use the saved content in your Stories

Once you have received user approvals, you need to click on the "Save to your Media" button to be able to use the content directly on the Story Builder. They will be available on the User Generated Content section. To add content to your page, simply click on it.

You can filter content using the tags you previously added to the saved content.
